HoYoverse has officially unveiled the second phase of Honkai: Star Rail's collaboration with the Fate series, introducing Rin Tohsaka and Gilgamesh as the crossover's newest playable characters. The collaboration is scheduled to begin on July 24, expanding the event with new story elements, additional rewards, and returning collaboration content for both new and existing players.

Leading the update are Rin Tohsaka and Gilgamesh, two of the most recognizable characters from the Fate franchise. According to the official character reveals, Gilgamesh joins the game as an Electric Destruction character, while Rin Tohsaka arrives as a Quantum Erudition character. Their promotional materials also include new lore describing both characters as arriving from a world beyond the stars, while preserving connections to their original Fate backgrounds. Gilgamesh's profile highlights his status as the King of Heroes, while Rin's introduction references her studies at the Clock Tower and her role as the successor of the Tohsaka family, giving longtime Fate fans familiar story elements within Honkai: Star Rail's universe.

Beyond introducing two new playable characters, the collaboration also expands the event itself. Players will be able to select Gilgamesh or the previously released Archer as a free character during the event period, while Saber and Archer from the original collaboration will once again be available. The returning lineup gives newcomers another opportunity to obtain earlier collaboration characters while allowing existing players to complete their collections. According to the announced schedule, the free character selection will remain available from Version 4.4 through Version 4.6.

The crossover also continues to deepen the connection between the two franchises through its in-game story and character interactions. Promotional dialogue and character descriptions suggest new relationships between Rin and Gilgamesh while incorporating familiar Fate references into Honkai: Star Rail. Rather than serving as standalone guest appearances, the newly revealed story appears designed to further integrate iconic Fate characters into the game's expanding crossover narrative.

While HoYoverse has yet to reveal every detail surrounding the collaboration, additional announcements—including equipment and other event content—are expected closer to launch. The second phase of the Honkai: Star Rail × Fate collaboration is scheduled to begin on July 24.
