Palworld is proving its massive player base goes beyond initial launch hype. Following its official 1.0 release after nearly two years in Early Access, Pocketpair’s creature-collecting survival-crafting title saw a significant player surge during its second post-launch weekend.
Peak concurrent players on Steam reached 961,867 over the weekend—an increase of more than 100,000 users compared to its already busy 1.0 launch weekend.

Early Access Vets Return for Full Release
The post-1.0 momentum points to a large wave of returning players alongside new adopters. After two years of early development, many players who had set the game aside appear to be digging it out of their Steam libraries to experience its completed feature set.
While the current player count is an impressive showing, the game's overall peak remains tied to its original Early Access launch, which previously saw over 2 million simultaneous players on Steam.
A Polarizing Genre Loop
Despite its massive active community, Palworld continues to divide opinion among survival-crafting fans. While millions remain hooked on its blend of base automation and creature capturing, the core gameplay loop still faces skepticism from players experiencing genre fatigue—particularly when compared to titles with tighter progression loops like Grounded.
