Following recent Xbox layoffs that affected thousands of employees, Bethesda Softworks has shared an update on the future of its major franchises, confirming several upcoming projects across the company's portfolio. Among the biggest announcements are remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, as well as a new Fallout project being developed in collaboration with Obsidian Entertainment.
In a statement covering Bethesda's upcoming plans, the studio reaffirmed that Fallout remains one of its highest priorities. While Fallout 5 is still described as a long-term goal, Bethesda confirmed that multiple Fallout projects are currently in development, suggesting the series will continue expanding beyond its next numbered entry.
One of those projects is a new Fallout 76 expansion titled Raven Rock, scheduled for release in 2027. The expansion will serve as a prequel to Fallout 3, adding another chapter to the franchise's broader timeline.
Bethesda also officially confirmed that remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development. The company did not reveal release dates or additional details, but the announcement confirms long-standing reports that both titles are receiving updated versions.
The studio also revealed that Obsidian Entertainment is working on a new Fallout project. While Bethesda did not provide a title or release window, the wording of the announcement suggests the game will be a separate entry from Fallout 5, similar to how Fallout: New Vegas served as a standalone installment rather than a direct numbered sequel.
Beyond Fallout, Bethesda also confirmed that Starfield will continue receiving updates, while The Elder Scrolls Online has additional content planned for the future. However, the company's latest announcement places Fallout at the center of its upcoming strategy, with several projects currently in production across the franchise.
