Marvel Tokon Blocked in 132 Countries, and It Looks Like PSN Requirements Are to Blame

PlayStation and Arc System Works' Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has been blocked in 132 countries, and fans believe PlayStation Network availability is the reason. IGN has reached out for clarification, while Arc System Works has not yet publicly commented.

Marvel Tokon Blocked in 132 Countries, and It Looks Like PSN Requirements Are to Blame

PlayStation and Arc System Works’ Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is currently unavailable in 132 countries on Steam, and many players believe the reason is tied to Sony’s ongoing PlayStation Network account restrictions.

There has been no official public explanation spelling out why the game is blocked in those territories. Still, the pattern has been enough for fans to draw a familiar conclusion: every affected country appears to be a region where PlayStation Network access is not available.

A familiar controversy for PlayStation players

For anyone who followed the Helldivers 2 situation, this feels like history repeating itself. Back in 2024, Arrowhead Studios confirmed that territories without PSN access would lose access to Helldivers 2 because of an update tied to account linking.

That move triggered major backlash, and Sony later walked it back, saying the update would no longer roll out across the PlayStation 5 and PC versions of the game.

Marvel Tokon’s situation is not identical in scale, but it is close enough to raise the same concerns. Helldivers 2 was affected across 177 countries, while Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is currently blocked in 132. That is still a huge number of players potentially shut out before launch.

Why players are frustrated

The frustration is easy to understand. For fans in those regions, this is not just a minor storefront issue. It means a high-profile Marvel fighting game from Arc System Works may simply be off-limits despite interest from PC and PS5 players alike.

At the time of writing, Arc System Works has not publicly addressed the matter. IGN has reportedly reached out for clarification, but for now, players are left connecting the dots themselves.

Sony is already under pressure

This latest controversy arrives during an especially tense stretch for Sony Interactive Entertainment. In recent weeks, the company has faced criticism on multiple fronts. An internal document recently suggested that PlayStation may be moving away from bringing its single-player games to PC in the same way it has before.

On top of that, Sony also announced it would end physical disc production for new games in early 2028. With Marvel Tokon now caught in a regional access dispute, the company has once again become a target for player criticism.

What Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls brings to the table

Despite the access concerns, interest in the game itself remains strong. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is set to launch on August 6, 2026, for PC and PS5. The game is led by a roster that includes major Marvel icons such as Captain America, Iron Man, and Spider-Man.

Arc System Works has also confirmed more playable characters over time, including Blade, Deadpool, and Loki, along with Carnage, Green Goblin, and Magneto.

If Sony or Arc System Works provides a formal explanation, that will likely determine whether this becomes another short-lived backlash or a larger long-term issue for the game’s global launch.
